“I’m a regular at Mama’s Shelter. You won’t find friendlier staff in any other hotel in Rome. The location is great, just 5 minutes from the Metro and 15 from the Vatican. Super clean, great beds, and excellent restaurants.”

“Our stay at MAMA was amazing from start to finish. We had a lot of assistance at the pre-arrival stage, with Sonia helping us out swiftly with a lot of questions I had about tours in Rome. The check in was quick and very friendly. The room was comfortable, and the beds were just amazing to sleep in. I also really loved that the room was quiet, away from the street's noise. Once you were inside, you couldn't hear any noise. The TV was big and of high quality, which my daughter really enjoyed. We only had breakfast, but it was of great quality and wide selection. The location was relatively central, and we walked from there to most places. We really had a fantastic time. Thank you MAMA.”

“It’s a nice short walk from hotel to the Vatican - location was close to public transport and as a solo female traveler from the states I felt extremely safe . Front desk was patient and super helpful with grabbing taxis and walking directions . The food at the hotel restaurant was great for breakfast! I can’t wait to come back!”

“Pros - bathroom and main areas of the hotel were pretty and well designed Cons - Shower pressure was low (the water seemed to ‘drip’ out of the faucet rather that pushed) - the bedroom, overall, was designed weirdly eg the headboard of the bed was facing away from the main door, no complete view of the full length mirror - gym was only accessible through prebooking and the only available slots were 6am - when our room was being cleaned, the rooftop was inaccessible due to being cleaned as well. We then went to the outside lobby for a coffee and the working staff didn’t know how to operate the espresso machine. - on the last evening, we asked the bar for a vermouth rosso as listed on the menu but it wasn’t available, so we had to pick a more expensive alternative - the pool and spa were non operational during our stay - when we went to the rooftop in the evening, all the lights were off and there was no service - we ended up spending most of our time in soho house instead”

“Beds ok, room ok, cleaning ok, only one chair in the room, shower not ok, (gigantic shower head with no pressure) , breakfast area too crowded and menu the same all week. Spa area not accessible due to renovation. Under the impression that breakfast was incl but had to pay for every day also days not receiving breakfast.”

“The hotel was great, modern, clean and while the rooms were basic, they did serve their purpose for a city break. It was great that sustainability is at the forefront for this hotel, from the non use plastic bottles for toiletries to LED lighting etc. The location of the hotel was superb, 15 minute walk to St Peter's Square or a 2 minute walk to the Metro where all the sights of Rome are within reaching distance - best get a 24/48 pass as you will use it rather than walking (which is also an option). It would have been a 10 review, however the point was deducted due to the breakfast service. Due to the rush of people trying to get breakfast first thing, the staff are very rushed in trying to keep everyone happy and this sometimes led to rudeness in the staff due to frustration. Other than that the staff were great, always on hand to help. Overall a great hotel, great location friendly staff - will definitely be back...”

“Double bed facing the window with the door behind the bed. Tv in the corner and armchair facing and touching the bed in the opposite corner.... Am I supposed to put my feet on the bed. Very ockward and uncomfortable room layout.”

“We stayed at Mama Shelter (Rome) following our cruise from Barcelona to Rome and it was fantastic. Clean, spacious rooms, extremely friendly and helpful front desk staff and a fun, energetic atmosphere, would definitely recommend it! Great restaurant too.”

“This is a stylish and modern property, located near a metro stop. There are lots of comfortable common areas, including a decent restaurant and pizzeria, an outdoor dining area, and a rooftop bar area (though the latter two were closed when I visited), as well as an indoor pool and sauna / steam room. The staff and friendly and helpful. My primary complaint is that there is virtually no recognition of Accor ALL status. As a Diamond member, I usually benefit from room category upgrades, welcome drinks and amenities, and, in certain properties, access to executive lounges or free minibars. Unfortunately, virtually none of these are recognised when checking into Mama Shelter - the best they offer is a single, 200ml glass of orange juice, which they consider sufficient as a welcome drink, for a room accommodating two people. This is so laughable as to somewhat insulting. Staff are instead trained to push you towards Mama Shelter's own loyalty program. Given the value of Accor ALL loyalty benefits, the complete absence of them at this property should factor into one's decision to stay here.”

“Dear Bruno, Many thanks for you e-mail. I stay was lovely!! A clear 10!! Could you help us however with one thing please. Our son forgot our house key in the room. We have already talked to the reception and the key was found. Your reception asked us now to Go to the post office in order to get the key delivered to us back Home in Munich. This is unfortunately Not possible and I asked your reception to please go to your post Office in Rome to send it to us on our cost of course. Unfortunately we have Not received any reply from your reception… Could you follow up on this please? This would be highly appreciated! Kind regards Thomas”
